Andersen opens its new Barcelona office

Andersen has inaugurated its new Barcelona headquarters, located in the emblematic Beethoven building at Avenida Diagonal, 618, which was the first headquarters of the former Arthur Andersen in Barcelona, and with which the firm seeks to "drive the continued growth of the Firm and reinforce the strong commitment of the entire Andersen team to position itself as a key player in the Catalan legal market."

This was made clear during the inauguration event, which was attended by more than 200 guests, and in which José Vicente Morote, together with Íñigo Rodríguez-Sastre, managing partners of Andersen in Iberia, highlighted during their speech that this change of office is part of “our commitment to improving the quality of the working conditions of our professionals and the provision of our services”. “The Barcelona office continues to grow in a structured and organised way as a result of the quality service we provide and the commitment of our professionals to constant improvement, which is why we are extremely happy and excited about the Catalan project.”

The event was also attended by Antonio Brufau, Chairman of Repsol, former Arthur Andersen and one of its most prominent managing partners in Barcelona. During his speech, Brufau stressed that Andersen’s values are those that define its professionals and that these, placed at the service of the firm, augur a great project for the future.

For his part, Morote highlighted the parameters of the firm on an international level, which is the one with the largest presence worldwide, with 174 countries and more than 400 offices, 71 offices in Europe in 40 countries and a large presence in Spain in major capitals such as Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville and Málaga.

He also emphasised the evolution and objectives of the firm in Spain, which “has managed to triple its figures in five years, as it began 2017 with a budget of 13 million euros and 150 professionals, and we have closed 2022 with 350 people in the organisation and a turnover of more than 40 million euros, a figure that we will continue to add with the aim of being in the region of €50 million this year.”

“Barcelona has a lot to contribute to the evolution of Andersen, and at Andersen, we want to put all our know-how, our services and our efforts into the development of this location, which we consider fundamental not only for the firm but above all for the economy in Spain”, said Morote. Our goal is to strive to contribute to the growth and dynamism of the economy in Catalonia,” he continued, “and an example of this is the commitment to initiatives that are an economic engine for Barcelona, such as America’s Cup to be held in the city in 2024, for which Andersen has been chosen as exclusive legal advisor.”

Andersen’s managing partner in Iberia highlighted the extraordinary work and entrepreneurial culture of Catalonia, which he defined as “a land of people open to the world, as Catalan businessmen have always been pioneers in the internationalisation of their companies, values in line with the culture of Andersen, which is part of an international organisation.” He continued: “Our commitment to Catalonia is indisputable, a land in which we want to be, continue and grow, following a structured and organised growth, as a result of the commitment of our professionals and the demand of our clients.”

Juan Ignacio Alonso Dregi, managing partner of the Barcelona office, highlighted the “unequivocal and unwavering commitment” of the entire firm to the Barcelona project and the efforts of the entire team to make these offices a reality, which “will contribute to the success of the Firm in its development in Catalonia.”

The new offices, located in the centre of the Catalan capital, occupy 1,000 square metres, doubling the space compared to the previous location. Specifically, Andersen’s facilities occupy a complete floor of the building where the different practice areas are distributed with new innovative and flexible spaces for the professionals working in this office and with the possibility of accommodating future additions planned as part of the expansion process envisaged in the firm’s strategic plan.
