To further build out its Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) offering, leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Madrid-based Pablo Blanco as a managing director within its Restructuring & Turnaround practice in Spain. Pablo Blanco’s joining advances A&M’s strategic growth plans in the region and across EMEA while reaffirming its commitment to helping financial institutions navigate challenges in pursuit of driving change.
This appointment extends the growth of A&M’s CRO services in Europe, following the recent hire of London-based Alfredo Bello, a Managing Director and new Co-head of the firm’s European Bank Restructuring practice. Blanco’s joining will provide boots-on-the-ground expertise to help clients capitalize on recent legislation in Spain allowing for more agile and flexible pre-insolvency procedures with a broader scope to promote restructuring at an earlier stage.
Blanco brings over 20 years of restructuring and transformation to A&M, with primary areas of concentration in operations and finance, debt, and mergers and acquisitions. He has managed projects across multiple jurisdictions including Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany and Latin America. Additionally, Pablo Blanco has worked across a range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, and rental machinery and services.
Prior to joining A&M, Blanco recently served as Chief Executive Officer with ArcelorMittal Tubular Products in Germany and led the business turnaround. Previously, he founded and led Phoenix Recovery Management, where he managed the debt and equity stakes of the largest Spanish banks in various operating companies. Additionally, he spent over nine years with Prosegur and served as a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Fernando De La Mora, Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal Spain and Portugal, said: “Over the last 12 months A&M in Spain has experienced rapid growth and increased demand for our lines of services and leadership. Pablo’s deep restructuring and transformation knowledge build on our established CRO offering in Europe while furthering our ability to solve clients’ current and future complex problems.”
Pablo holds a Law and Business degree from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, being first in his class. He also holds an MBA from London Business School.
