Acciona adds M&A pro from Cuatrecasas as legal counsel

Acciona has hired Sara Shackleford, until now a Corporate and M&A principal associate at Cuatrecasas, as a new member of its in-house legal department

In 2012, Sara joined Cuatrecasas for her professional training program that included a rotation plan involving different practice areas and offices: Corporate Law, M&A and Capital Markets. Coordinated day-to-day corporate activities of Spanish companies. Negotiated and drafted contracts and corporate documents and delivered opinions on corporate law and capital markets. Participated in transactions relating to mergers and acquisitions and capital markets, such as takeover bids. Coordinated and conducted due diligence investigations and matters related to Finance and International Tax Law. Reviewed corporate and real estate transactions and analysed possible tax consequences. Researched and drafted memoranda and opinions on tax law matters; and  Litigation and Arbitration. Participated in banking, commercial and civil litigation before Spanish Courts and arbitration institutions.

Since 2017 she was a lawyer in the  Corporate Law and M&A department of the same firm in its New York office, advising international companies and private equity firms on cross-border M&A transactions and joint ventures, corporate group restructuring, and structuring of investments in Spain and Latin America. She also coordinated multi-jurisdictional due diligence procedures and supported and assisted Spanish clients in their day-to-day corporate matters and investments and divestments in the United States.

She was appointed principal associate for Cuatrecasas Madrid office in January 2022, a role that she has occupied until now, advising Spanish and international companies and private equity firms on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, collaboration and joint venture agreements, and corporate group restructuring, negotiating and drafting contracts, corporate documents, and opinions on corporate law, coordinating and conducting due diligence procedures, and managing board secretary duties, drafting corporate documentation, and coordinating day-to-day corporate matters of Spanish companies.

She is a Law graduate and holds a Diploma in International Relations, Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, and she holds a Master’s degree of Laws (LLM) in Banking, Corporate, Finance and Securities Law from the New York University School of Law.
